We have a blurb!

Let me introduce to Awakening, Book Two of the BirthRight Trilogy.

Be careful what you wish for…
An innocuous love spell caused Catherine, Sian, Laura, and Kassandra to cross worlds in search of their soul mates. But more than love drew them to Gar'nyse. Truths are revealed and lives forever altered after an attack at the castle. An age old feud between two archaic families threatens to tear the world they've arrived in apart. As the ultimate weapons in such a war the four girls are the only hope for peace.
But one of them lies unconscious from the attack, and the destiny that awaits her when she wakes will change everything.

And for those patiently (and not so patiently..) waiting for this fabulous book *grin* as I've mentioned, it's with the most amazing (naturally!) line editor and she has promised to have it back to me soon!! Then I need to make the changes, give it another read through, and *GASP* it will be up!!! I'm pretty damn excited (did the numerous !'s give you any hint?) and am half fantasizing that it'll be up by next weekend *swoon* but things never go quite as planned so hopefully by the weekend after next : )

For those of you wanting the new version of The Arrival, I'm following up with Amazon re this, and it is available on Smashwords, in any format, for free.

Have a safe and fun weekend peoples!
Take care all!
Nic

  1. I have an obsessive personality...can't, not give you feedback. Probably most of which you won't appreciate. Don't mean to be tacky, but it takes time to be soft, and I'm an impatient person ;O)

Be careful what you wish for… [adds nothing]
An innocuous[avoid generic adjectives in a blurb…you want to snap…every word must count] love spell causes Catherine, Sian, Laura, and Kassandra [if you have a single MC, I recommend 'Catherine and her friends' to cross worlds[do you use a verb in your novel, like 'fold', 'transition'…use it here if it makes sense] in search of their soul mates [set this up…is it part of a party prank…a witchly ritual?]. But more than love draws them to Gar'nyse [means nothing if you don't immediately follow what else draws them]. Truths are revealed and lives forever altered after an attack at the[article meaningless—what castle?] castle[way too generic/not meaningful/doesn't touch the potential reader]. An ages-old feud between two archaic[I don't think this is the right word/entrenched/well healed] families threatens to tear the world they've arrived in apart[how/generic]. As the ultimate weapons[meaningless if you don't say why] in such[generic/what kind of war?] a war, the four girls are the only hope for peace[need to say how, what makes them special, or it's meaningless].
But one of them lies unconscious from the[what?] attack[rather a blasé statement], and the destiny that awaits her [if this isn't the MC, why do we care/if it IS the MC, use her name] when she wakes will change everything[generic].

  2. @Mac- Have you read book one (The Arrival)? Because it does actually refer to things that happen in Book One so we remember the recap and the main plot. And we don't know who is lying unconscious yet... if she tells before I start reading the book I will be upset at the spoiler! There is no need to give anything further away, the blurb is intriguing, enticing the reader to want to continue, which if I am correct is exactly what it's for!
I'm sure Nic would appreciate advice if you based it on her book specifically, not just a generic blurb comment....
Which bring sme to my point... I like it! And I'm excited to see who is unconscious and what happens next... hurry up line editor!!

  3. Hi Mac - this is the blurb for book two of a trilogy. If you've read book one it doesn't require the explanations you're suggesting but thanks for the thoughts :)

  4. Hi, I wondering if you could give us a status for book#2. I keep looking on amazon for the book that I thought was suppose to be released soon, but I can't find your book anywhere, not even in pre-order status.

    Thanks

  5. Hi Anon :) The book is still in the final stages of editing, I'm hoping I'll get it out at the end of this week (it's mon here in NZ) and pre-order isn't an option for indies unfortunately.
Nice to hear from you :)
